Meet Michelle
Psychotherapist/Trainer/Crisis Responder/Practice Owner/Former Non-Profit Executive
Michelle Palmer is a licensed clinical social worker who has moved back "home" to NJ after spending over 2 decades living and working in Washington, DC. Beyond Grief is the culmination of her 25 years serving bereaved and traumatized children, teens, and adults domestically and internationally. Michelle is dedicated to providing compassionate and practical support that helps people navigate many of life's most difficult experiences.
Michelle believes that grief and loss are not something to "get over" but rather something we learn to peacefully coexist with; a philosophy she used to guide her tenure as Executive Director of the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing, Washington, D.C.'s largest grief and trauma organization. Grief therapy helps us find a way to honor, cherish, laugh, and love, even in the presence of grief.
In addition to her work as a psychotherapist Michelle is a national expert in the areas of mass violence response and recovery, secondary trauma, complex homicide, and compassionate death notification. She has responded to local and national crises and is passionate about helping communities and cities heal from the unthinkable.
Beyond Grief is a hybrid private practice serving NJ, NY, MD, and Washington, DC.
